More than fourscore candidates are vying to exist Florida SouthWestern State Higher'south provost.

The applicant list includes internal candidates Eileen DeLuca, FSW's acting provost, and Elisabeth Noyes, an adjunct professor at FSW's Naples campus.

A 15-member committee made up of faculty members and others are charged with reviewing the applicants. Deborah Teed, dean of the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, is leading the committee. The group met for the first time final month.

The committee is set to meet Fri to cut the listing to eight to ten semifinalists. It will assemble Feb. fifteen to comport phone interviews and select three to five finalists to invite to campus. The candidates will meet faculty, the school'south deans and president.

"We generally can find people within that huge group of incredibly qualified candidates who we actually want to come across on this campus," Teed said.

The provost, a top leadership position at FSW, serves as the higher'southward chief academic officer. The minimum annual salary for the position and other cabinet jobs at FSW is $112,472. The person who gets the task will help oversee a schoolhouse that has more 22,000 students and campuses in Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties.

The candidates are competing to replace onetime Provost Jeffrey Stewart, who resigned terminal year. Stewart'south resignation came on the heels of a misconduct investigation. Five women —  four FSW employees and a student —  accused Stewart of sexual misconduct, ranging from sexual harassment to attack.

Stewart began working at FSW in 2012 every bit its vice president of enquiry, technology and accountability. He was named provost in 2016. Stewart's salary was $196,950 a twelvemonth.

Stewart was the fourth person to serve as FSW's provost since 2011 when Steve Atkins was suspended and later fired. One person served on an interim basis.

DeLuca was named interim provost after Stewart resigned. She started her career at FSW every bit an adjunct professor in 2005. She has risen through the ranks, serving in many jobs, including department chair, dean and associate vice president of academic affairs.

Noyes' career includes stints as vice chancellor of Massachusetts' public higher education system and the main academic officeholder for the Academy System of New Hampshire.

►Kim Spiezio, the provost at the Academy of Charleston. He was provost at Hodges University from 2013-15. Spiezio practical for the president's task at Florida Gulf Declension University in 2016.

►Robin Goodrich, president of Chamberlain University'south N Brunswick campus in New Jersey

►Marc Manganaro, the former provost at Loyola University New Orleans

►Joseph Bessie, former provost at Minnesota State University Moorhead

►Sharon Miller, the ex-provost at Polk State College in Wintertime Haven. In 2013, Polk Land's president placed Miller on administrative leave, citing a lack of confidence in her ability to practice her chore, according to The Lakeland Ledger.

Erstwhile FSW professor Marty Ambrose, who spent 35 years at the school before retiring, said she thinks the college needs to hire a candidate who has risen through the academic ranks and tin can piece of work well with the higher'due south union and faculty senate.
